Gooseberry Waterfalls: Spring Thaw

We went for a hike around the falls at Gooseberry State Park today. Spring is when the waterfalls show their power and glory. Water levels peaked last weekend with the early spring thaw. The trails were not that muddy for spring. There are a lot of wood walkways which makes this the perfect hike in the spring time.

We watched a fisherman bring in a salmon. She put up quite a fight. The fisherman was excited to pose for my photo and then released the beautiful fish back into the rushing water.

As we were hiking the falls loop hiking trail and going up the stairs on the other side, I was thinking this is so much better than any stair master! I deeply inhaled the wet air and listened to the roaring water. O.K. so the sights may slow you down a little. Each turn in the path is a different magnificent view. Put your health club membership away and come explore the North Shore. Your legs and lungs will thank you!
